Sustainability

If you are reading this chances are that you have more than just a passing interest in sushi. And that you'd like to continue being able to eat many of the tasty dishes you enjoy...

We should all be aware that many fish and other seafoods have been over fished and continued harvesting may result in their extinction. Choosing wisely is not an easy task. Some species are well managed in some regions and virtually eliminated in others. To help us choose many groups publish lists of those that are not endangered or that have sustainable harvesting.

But these lists can be misleading because some groups have commercial agendas. Stores may mark seafood with one of these approvals and charge more than another store with the same fish but no approval seal. Some groups recommend seafoods that others consider at risk because there is a plan in place to improve sustainability.

Here are sources you may want to consult to help you choose sustainably harvested seafoods.
